Music camps travel to the Yukon

Under the instruction of cellists Nico Stephenson, Isidora Nojkovic, and Roland Gjernes, a series of free, week-long music camps occurred in several Yukon communities in July.

With cellos on loan from a Vancouver music store, the cellists travelled to Ross River, Dawson City, and Mayo sharing their love for music and teaching youth how to play the cello.

Stephenson and a couple of fellow music students raised all the money they needed to cover expenses from private donors, including corporate donors the Kaminak Gold Corporation and Yukon Energy.

The group is already receiving requests from other Yukon communities about hosting more camps and is hoping they can provide the camps again next year.
