The Honourable J. Michel Doyon, along with the Minister responsible for Indigenous Affairs, Ian Lafrenière, presented the very first First People Medal (Inuit Nation) October 12, 2021.

This distinction recognizes the exceptional contribution of First Nations and Inuit people and highlights the careers of remarkable individuals who, through their achievements, involvement and commitment, contribute to the influence of their community, their nation or First Peoples throughout Quebec, or Canada, or internationally.
