In July, Makivik released the results from their 2017-2018 fishing year, announcing that prices for northern shrimp remain strong, they are increasing their market in Europe, and continuing to develop the China market where Northern shrimp is very popular.

Makivik received $7.2 million in royalties from its fishing partner Newfound Resources Ltd. for the 2017-2018 fishing year. Newfound Resources Ltd., in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Makivik have been working together as partners for over 15 years.

In April, Makivik hosted its second four-week Offshore Shrimp Training Program in Salluit, Nunavik.
